The Fast 800

The 800kcal diet has become increasingly popular in recent times and mainly consists of three main meals across the day that equal to a total of 800kcal. We have put our own little spin on the popular 800kcal diet and added a Mediterranean flair so you can reap the benefits of both! What’s better?! Consuming a Mediterranean diet assists in lowering blood sugar levels and reducing the risk of chronic health conditions such as cardiovascular disease and diabetes. The high protein and fibre content of a Mediterranean diet also assists in helping you feel fuller for longer.

5:2 Diet

What about the best of both worlds? This method is suited for those people wanting to ease their way into the fasting world. It allows for five days of regular, healthy eating and two days of fasting. But don’t worry, those two fasting days don’t mean you can only have fresh air for breakfast, lunch and dinner, your fasting day would look like a more controlled, lower-calorie day. For example, your regular day would consist of consuming your recommended amount of calories based on your weight and energy expenditure, and the fasting days would work off a significant calorie deficit of your regular days.

Intermittent Fasting

One of the most common fasting diets is Intermittent Fasting where your eating pattern includes hours of minimal to no food consumption. What happens to our bodies during the fasting period? What’s the point? Well, our body uses carbohydrates as energy when broken down into sugars, however, if we don’t use these sugars, it gets stored in our fat cells. We can only store the sugars once insulin is released in response to consuming these types of foods. Therefore, when we increase the amount of time between meals, our insulin levels go down and our fat cells can release the stored sugars and use this as an energy source instead, resulting in weight loss.
